Assolombarda inaugurates a space within the Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi and signs an agreement with Alghanim, SACE, and SIMEST.

On January 28, 2026, at Italiacamp’s Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi, a wide-ranging industrial agreement was signed with the aim of strengthening the presence of Italian manufacturing excellence in the Gulf countries. The operational agreement was signed by Alvise Biffi, President of Assolombarda; the legal representative of Fouad Alghanim & Sons Group of Companies; Vittorio de Pedys, President of SIMEST; and Michele Pignotti, Chief Executive Officer of SACE.

The signing of the agreement also provided the opportunity to celebrate, in the presence of Leo Cisotta, General Manager of Italiacamp EMEA, the ribbon-cutting of Assolombarda’s new space within the Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi. This new physical presence represents the first step in Assolombarda’s establishment in the United Arab Emirates.

The opening of the office took place in conjunction with the official visit to the United Arab Emirates by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The visit further underscores the increasingly central role of relations between Italy and the Gulf countries, reaffirming the importance of continuous efforts to strengthen Italy’s presence in the region.

The event welcomed a highly distinguished audience, reflecting the significance of the bilateral relationship. Attendees included Tariq Altayer, Director of the Foreign Direct Investment Department at the UAE Ministry of Investment; Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO – Abu Dhabi Investment Office; Massimo Falcioni, Chief Competitiveness Officer of ADIO – Abu Dhabi Investment Office; Lorenzo Morini, Italian Ambassador to Kuwait; and Massimo Casini, representative of Alghanim. A delegation from the Italian and Emirati industrial and professional communities also took part in the ceremony.
